From a past in which the canarian instrument was played simply as an accompanying instrument, its use was revolutionised during the seventies and eighties by Totoyo Millares, who converted it into a soloist’s instrument and created a school which produced several ‘timple’ players.
His records ‘Antologia del timple canario’ (Anthology of the Canarian timple) -in three volumes- is from this period as was his project to create a ‘timple’ orchestra.
The fruit of this aforementioned initiative is the apparition in recent years of three people who practice different musical styles: José Antonio Ramos, who makes records in which the ‘timple’ is mixed in the fusion and creation of themes inspired by traditional music and jazz.

The Canary Islands' Music Festival, an old aspiration of diverse sectors of the islands' society, celebrated its first edition in January 1985, and on the initiative of the President of the Canary Islands at that time, Jerónimo Saavedra, it was declared "European Year of Music", in commemoration of the tercentenary of Bach, Haendel and Scarlatti.
The second objective was to give an international status to the Canary Islands through something more than the traditional "cliché" of sun and beach which typifies the islands.
Its third and last aim was to promote tourism to the islands in a more specific musical aspect, and at a much greater level than normal up to that moment.

Music changes constantly and one must change with the music else you will winter away.
I understand the importance to make music in a DJ’s point of view (like playing out in a club to a dance floor), but in this case, it has to be more of what I like most.
I mean you have house music in almost every where of Spain but for example in Cataluña you have very progressive clubs even hardcore for young people, in the north you can find lot of tech-proggy clubs and in the south lot's of break beats.
