The Musikverein in Vienna, Austria was opened on January 6, 1870, and is famous for its acoustics.
It is considered to be one of the three finest concert halls in the world, along with Boston's Symphony Hall and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, and is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Every year on January 1 the Vienna New Year's Concert is held here.

Founded in 1988, the Vienna Piano Trio (Stefan Mendl, piano, Wolfgang Redik, violin, and Christian Poltra, cello) has achieved a meteoric rise to fame (The Strad), and has been hailed as one of the worlds leading ensembles of piano, violin and cello (The Washington Post).
In October 1999 the trio performed at the Vienna Musikverein the world premiere of a triple concerto written for the ensemble by the Austrian composer Christoph Cech.
Having won numerous prizes at international competitions, the Vienna Piano Trio went on to study with the Trio di Trieste, the Haydn Trio Wien, Isaac Stern, Jaime Laredo, Ralph Kirshbaum, with members of the La Salle and Guarneri Quartets, and with the Beaux Arts Trio, among others.
