As far as I know Mutant X was created by Marvel for TV because they don't own the rights to X-Men, in film and television, Fox does.
Mutant X was like an X-Men ripoff (and WASN'T on Fox) so Fox was trying to sue Marvel.
With the problem of Mutant X think of it this way; Universal made a deal with Marvel for the exclusive rights to use the Hulk on film.

I've caught bits and pieces of the syndicated Mutant X show from time to time; never really drew me in.
Mutant X is not, as Fox purported, an X-Men ripoff.
I suppose one can assume that this comic book will be of interest only to fans of the TV show, those familiar with the characters and the premise.

Now this I don't mind too much, I can live with the fact that five comics will cost me over $30 (coz lets face it, how many 2.99 comics are there on the market at the moment), but in the case of the Tick, I couldn't take escalating comic prices anymore.
But then someone at New England Comics decided the Tick needed to be presented in full colour.
I remember when it took a good twenty-minutes, which made the fact that comics are monthly almost worth the wait.
