            When I reached Muzaffarabad as part of a journalists' delegation from the Indian side of Kashmir on November 22, I virtually forgot that I was in a 'foreign' country and had to undergo the cumbersome process of obtaining a visa and special permission to visit Azad Kashmir.
But soon after I landed in Muzaffarabad, after giving the slip to Indian soldiers guarding the LoC, it dawned upon me that I and hundreds like me had fallen victim to the designs of some vested interests.

When they heard of these Sikhs having reached Muzaffarabad they came from far and near villages to meet them and invited them to their homes as a mark of respect and to express their joy.

 Marines Keep Humanitarian Supplies Flying High
MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan - Six Marines with Marine Air Control Squadron-4, currently attached to Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Air Wing, have kept humanitarian supplies flying through the skies of northern Pakistan since Nov. 15.
The air traffic control Marines from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma are serving at landing zones in Muzaffarabad and Shinkiari in an operation to provide medical treatment and humanitarian aid to those affected by the massive Oct. 8 earthquake.
The Marines are there to coordinate air traffic control procedures which includes communicating radio contact procedures with the tower and the altitudes to maintain when arriving or departing the airfield, according to Staff Sgt. Eric Grussing, the Marine Corps air traffic control mobile team leader.

Islamabad, June 27: Pakistan today launched the process of evacuating 11,000 people from their houses around Muzaffarabad, the quake-hit capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), after their villages were declared unsafe and prone to further landslides, officials said.
Authorities maintain the displaced villagers would be relocated to different camps in and around Muzaffarabad, where thousands of quake survivors are still living in tents, more than eight months after the disaster struck.
Dawlat Khan, a UNHCR field assistant in Muzaffarabad said the agency has distributed leaflets among the villagers and also launched radio programmes to encourage villagers to cooperate in the process of relocation.

Almost 70 per cent of the buildings in Muzaffarabad, capital of Azad Kashmir, have been destroyed or damaged, according to the presidential spokesman, Major Gen Shaukat Sultan, who took foreign media on a helicopter tour of the devastated areas.
Television pictures of the areas indicated the massive relief effort required as hundreds of children were believed buried under collapsed schools and people trapped in destroyed mud-houses and concrete buildings in isolated villages and towns in the quake-hit areas.
Some 25 helicopters, belonging to army aviation, the air force and the crisis management cells were already in operation taking relief workers and materials to the needy and bringing back the seriously injured.
