As we progress up the moraines of the vast Baltoro Glacier, the Muztagh Tower (7273m) and Masherbrum (7821m) slowly reveal themselves and in the distance Gasherbrum IV stands tall, providing a taste of what is to come.
The Trango Towers, Lobsang Spires, Grand Cathedral, Uli Biaho and many other fantastic spires of rock rise up spectacularly on the north side of the valley, and with clear weather we will be able to look up the Baltoro Glacier to Broad Peak (8047m) and Gasherbrum IV (7930m).
The going is generally quite easy on the fairly level glacier, and the route is marked by obvious cairns and by a knee level telegraph wire which runs from the hut at Goro up to the small army outpost at Concordia.
