My Cousin Vinny review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Vinny spends most of his time boning up on the case while Lisa, played by Marisa Tomei, spends most of hers taking pictures of the locals and asking Vinny what she can do to help him out.
Vinny must go it alone when learning the laws of Alabama and the customs of the stickler judge, played by Fred Gwynn, who seems determined to oust the flamboyant attorney from his conservative courtroom.
Vinny may be crass, but he's basically just a good guy who loves his girlfriend, is loyal to his family and sticks to his guns when he knows he's right.

My Cousin Vinny - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vinny manages to again draw the ire of the judge by showing up late and wearing a gaudy second-hand suit (because his new suit accidentally fell in the mud).
Vinny at last manages to do something right, as he asks a devastating series of questions on cooking grits that discredit Tipton's prior testimony while presenting an alternate theory of the crime: that two other men, driving a similar car, committed the murder after Billy and Stan had left the scene.
Vinny finds Lisa outside the courtroom and forces her inside, where she triumphantly confirms Vinny's theory that the car at the crime scene was definitely not Billy's 1964 Buick Skylark, but a 1963 Pontiac Tempest, the only car resembling the former and able to produce the marks at the crimescene.

 My Cousin Vinny Review
"My Cousin Vinny" is a very funny, fish-out-of-water comedy about an utterly inexperienced Brooklyn lawyer, defending his cousin in an Alabama murder trial.
Vinny receives the call as a sort of family emergency, after his college-age cousin, Bill, (Ralph Macchio) and the boy's roommate, Stan, (Mitchell Whitfield) are both arrested while driving though rural Alabama, falsely accused of killing a convenience store clerk.
Once Vinny arrives on the scene, however, and shows immense ineptitude, bill and Stan are not so sure family ties are enough reason to keep THIS guy as their attorney.

As a newly minted lawyer forced to take on his very first crime case in deep in the heart of Dixie when his cousin (Ralph Macchio) is accused of murder, Pesci shines as the New York wiseguy who seemingly has all the angles.
You'll have to watch the movie to find out, but needless to say, the movie was a big hit with audiences and introduced the world to the cinematic charms of Tomei, who rightly earned an Oscar for her phenomenal performance.
Add to that the fact that the film was green lighted on a mere $11 million dollar budget and it became clear that pulling off My Cousin Vinny was a huge gamble that hardly promised to be "Exhibit A" at the box office.
