It is my hope, that in the not too distant future people will look back at these times and say, there lived a people that were not afraid to turn their backs on the edicts of society, who were not afraid to turn away from the violent consequences of symbolism, nationalism and profiteering.
Time does not exist if you work with nature, for your work will bear the countenance of immortality as all of nature is immutable and timeless; a tree, a flower, a majestic mountain--all are expressions of an eternal mind and intelligence from which we can learn and discover our true capacity.
Now is the time to replace the dark despair of ignorance with the buoyant insight of originality and discovery and to destroy forever the constrictive edicts of unquestioned tradition and conformity.

Reedman Butch Stone did the novelty vocals; Doris Day joined '40, again '43-6, her biggest hits 'My Dreams Are Getting Better All The Time' and 'Sentimental Journey' (composed by Homer) were both no. 1 '45, 'You Won't Be Satisfied (Till You Break My Heart)' no. 5 '46; also 'Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief'.
Brown quit late '46 to take a year off, settled in L.A. but had forgotten a March '47 ballroom gig; couldn't get out of it and re-formed; then being on the West Coast got radio and TV work at a time when other bands were folding.
A Columbia executive heard them playing 'I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm' '48 and wanted them to record it; it was already in the can, recorded '46; at Christmas '48 it was no. 1 and everybody knew it was the last big instrumental hit of the Swing Era.
