My Favorite Martian - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My Favorite Martian was an American television sitcom aired on CBS from September 29, 1963 to September 4, 1966 for 107 episodes (75 in fl and white 1963-1965, 32 color 1965-1966).
An animated series, My Favorite Martians, was made by Filmation, and ran on the primetime series' network, CBS, from September 1973 to September 1975.
However, the premise was changed: Martians are four-armed, four-legged, three-eyed, creatures who use a "gumball" (in which they call "nerplex") to assume human form.

My Favorite Martian is a half-hour sitcom about a Martian whose spaceship crash lands on Earth and who moved in with the reporter who witnessed the crash landing and found its pilot.
It was derived from the 1963 sitcom, but in the cartoon version, there were three Martians who were discovered by 2 Earthlings, roughly based on the 1963 series, but none of the actors returned to do the voices.
My Favorite Martian was made by Desilu Studios.

My favourite bits include Lizzie asking Tim if he is a Trekkie, and Martin's derogatory remarks about Earthlings: calling us "the amoebas of the universe" and referring to ice cream as "coloured buckets of frozen lard", all of which is delivered with Lloyd's signature eccentricity.
My opinion is that the polished script, which includes (or at least attempts) the thread of emotional content common to all Disney films, is worthy of the Disney banner.
My guess is that a feature-laden special edition will appear down the track if the sales can be secured.

Tim is never quite sure when Uncle Martin will next employ his Martian powers but he almost always uses his unusual abilities to get into the strangest types of trouble.
One of the things I remember from my childhood viewing of the series is how Martin would sometimes address the camera (and us the viewers) directly, something rarely seen in TV shows (even now).
An inferior cartoon version of My Favorite Martian was produced in the early 70s.

But the best thing about the show, in my opinion, was the use of the theraphin (sp?)in the musical score--you know, that weird instrument that the Beach Boys used in their song "Good Vibrations." The theraphin was used to accent all of Uncle Martin's magical Martian levitations and extra sensory perceptions.

 SPLICEDwire: "My Favorite Martian" review
Disney's "My Favorite Martian" is bookended by the only two laughs in the whole movie.
Most of the film depends on Christopher Lloyd as the Martian and Jeff Daniels as his unwilling Earthling guide, both of whom are just right for their parts but spend the whole picture on auto-pilot, playing one-dimensional characters with rubber faces.
But "My Favorite Martian" even manages to blow its most promising moment (that closing homage) by shamelessly setting the stage for a sequel.
