My Night With Reg - Kevin Elyot
He has just fallen in love with Reg, the enigmatic lover of mutual college friend Daniel (Robin Keogh), setting off a chain reaction of deception and betrayal which bubbles under the surface of the narrative right to the touching finale.
My Night With Reg is anything but stodgy though, and the characters’ dilemmas are both interesting and dramatically coherent.
My Night With Reg is playing in conjunction with the Dublin Pride 2001 festival (June 18 to July 1), but merits wide and general appreciation.

On My Way to the Natural World
And because my days have for years begun at the foot of a Colorado mesa, from its environs many of these pages have arisen, with a few side trips taken farther afield.
My favorite book is one nobody owns, yet everyone reads at least passages from it; a compilation which earlier ages called the Book of Nature, where a starry night’s almost my favorite page.
Having spent my schoolroom years on a Midwestern prairie while daydreaming out the window and longing for horizons of some relief, I now live at the foot of that boulder-strewn mesa.

BBC - Oxford Stage - My Night With Reg
Set in a flat belonging to the jittery, bumbling character Guy (played by James Bounds), a flat warming party is beginning, where he and an old university acquaintance John (Michael Reed) chat nervously, anticipating the arrival of other friends.
'My Night with Reg' focuses on the lives of the characters, all of whom share one thing in common; they are gay.
As the script unfolds it becomes apparent that Reg has had an effect on all of the men's lives in some way, and although his character does not feature physically in the performance, it provides the structure and twist to the story.

Theatre Review: My Night With Reg, Burton Taylor Theatre, Oxford
John, however, is in love with Reg, who never appears in the play but binds together all its principal characters by his appearance in their love lives at one point or another.
The fact that most people's involvement with Reg only stretches to a casual fling highlights the issue of AIDS which could put the play at risk of being sanctimonious and mawkish but in fact, the theme is barely more than an undertone.
Although it is not unusual to see a play where male characters are in the majority, My Night with Reg is different to most other male-dominated drama, and perhaps worth seeing on that recommendation alone.

My Morning Jacket's songs take on a whole new life when Jim presents them this way and if you are lucky, he will perform a cover like Bread's "Make It With You" that will melt you.
Jim symbolizes what I love most about doing Reg's Coffee House and it is great to have someone that I call my friend performing for the Reg's Coffee House listeners.

The band was doing the night club scene around the area and there was another band in the Seattle area using the same name.

South London Theatre - My Night With Reg
Kevin Elyot’s Olivier Award-winning comic drama is the story of a group of gay friends living in London whose lives revolve one way or another around the unseen title character, the lover of one of them who seems to have had more than one night with more than just one person.
Later thrown into the mix are Benny and Bernie, a couple with some startling revelations of their own to make, and handyman Eric, a young man who seems to appreciate Guy’s warmth and sensitivity, but doesn’t wish to take things any further.
KEVIN ELYOT was commissioned to write 'My Night With Reg' by the Hampstead Theatre in 1991.

James Bounds as Guy is solid throughout and, after an initially shaky start, Michael Reed is undoubtedly impressive as John, seeming to diminish in stature, weighed down by the power of the unspoken, before the audience’s very eyes.
