The Old Joel on Software Forum - My word processing experience
It has been my observation that those who deny that Word is buggy typically have never tried to create a document more than 50 pages long, or with an index, a table of contents, or complex formatting.
It's been my experience that 90% of the time, when I've seen someone have a problem with Word, it wasn't so much that Word wouldn't do what was required, but that the person using it didn't know how to tell it what to do.
Word has some very bizarre ways of doing things, and it does what you tell it to do, not what you want it to do, and they are rarely the same thing.

My Word! - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Two teams (Muir and Dilys Powell versus Norden and Ann Scott James [later Antonia Fraser]) faced a series of questions devised by Mason, primarily word games and literary quizzes covering vocabulary, etymology, snippets of poetry, and the like.
When stumped by a question, the contestants could be sure of receiving generous partial credit for a humorous answer of enough ingenuity.
The show, which ended in 1990, is still rerun in the United States and Australia.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth:
So will my word be which goes out of my mouth: it will not come back to me with nothing done, but it will give effect to my purpose, and do that for which I have sent it.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
So shall my word be that proceedeth from my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

The recording engineers are often asked to do the impossible in the way of editing but they never fail to do an expert job, and the fact that so few people realize that the programme is edited at all is a great credit to their ability.
Before and after editing, my secretary, Valerie Hodgetts, has to check the quotations recorded with Copyright Department who decide whether the quotations can be used, and if so, what payment must be made.
She also keeps the score during the programme, and in my office maintains an efficient card index system so that Edward J. Mason can keep a check on words and quotations to prevent their being used twice.

My Word of Faith Testimony by Tricia Tillin - The ORIGINAL!!! now updated
In His greater wisdom and His greater knowledge of my life, He knew that when my calling to be a minister came, it would have been impossible for me to obey fully with a young family to care for.
My friends even threatened to remove my glasses and stamp on them, as this would be a positive action reinforcing my faith.
My heart jumped - maybe we would get to speak to them and share our hopes and desires for spiritual renewal, or maybe we could share some thoughts on the teaching - but as they glanced around they looked straight through us as if we didn't exist, in their rush to get away.

 UWM News Release
Vaux came to UWM from Harvard University, where he launched several online surveys of regional word usage that have provided the data for his project, the "Harvard Survey of North American Dialects." The results show that local terms are entrenched in many areas.
He also plans a survey of "Wisconsin words," such as "bubbler," "frozen custard" and "butter burger," focusing on how such words are used in various parts of the state.
Usage tends to follow four distinct zones: In the eastern U.S., the North, Midlands and South zones were formed by the population moving westward in three horizontal bands – from Colonial settlements in Massachusetts Bay, Philadelphia and the Chesapeake Bay.

My only disappointment with the cast lay with the rather unexpectedly lacklustre performance from Annie Man. Having enjoyed some of her other shows, I was looking forward to this show with some high expectations from her, but her acting seemed tired and hesitant at times and often let down the other actors in her scenes.
As I watched and it progressed towards the end, my feelings were that the writers had built so much potential material into the characters, the backdrops and the backgrounds, only to have most of it rushed through or thrown out.
My prediction and hope is that maybe they are holding back for a sequel, which I would greatly welcome.
