Myrtle Audrey Arinsberg was born in Philadelphia in September of 1924.
She came in number one at a state wide search for new talent, and by the end of the war during the late 40s she began her recording career.
Soon renamed by Dave Kapp who was head of A and R at her label RCA Victor, she was now known as Gogi Grant (from the name of a French bistro in New York City).

Born Myrtle Audrey Arinsberg, 20 September 1924, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
She had previously recorded, without success, as Audrey Brown and Audrey Grant, but as Gogi Grant she hit the US Top 10 in 1955 with the ballad "Suddenly There's A Valley".
Her biggest hit came a year later with a sad ballad about lost love, "The Wayward Wind", which shot to number 1 in the USA and reached the Top 10 in the UK.

As a teenager, Miss Arinsberg won a contest for teen singers in California and appeared on television in some talent shows.
In 1952 she began her recording career, using the name Audrey Brown, and later performed as Audrey Grant.

Gogi Grant on the cover of her 2002 collection Her Very Best Gogi Grant (born Myrtle Audrey Arinsberg, September 20, 1924) was an American popular singer.
Before adopting the name "Gogi Grant" She had used the names "Audrey Brown" and "Audrey Grant." She was given the name "Gogi" by Dave Kapp, the head of Artists and Repertory at RCA Records, who liked to patronize a restaurant called "Gogi's LaRue." In 1956 She was voted most popular female vocalist by Billboard magazine.
In 1957 She supplied the vocals for Ann Blyth in the movie portrayal of Helen Morgan's life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Whitby, former Delaware Motor Vehicle Commissioner, in 1987; a daughter, Correen June Whitby; a brother, Harry Shulties; and a sister, Edna Marion.
Whitby is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John “Jack” and Audrey “Sandy” Whitby of Dover; a grandson, John W. Whitby Jr.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathryn Crawford and Elizabeth E. Cubbage, both of Bowers Beach, Edna M. Masten of Woodside, and Peg Galipo of Frederica; a son, James A. Cubbage of Frederica; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
