	Shaolin Kung Fu Mystagogue: Reviews
		Shaolin Kung Fu Mystagogue is a good example of the kind of HK action films that inspired John Carpenter to make Big Trouble in Little China.
		And, sure, they may lack in budget, have thin plots, and no standout moments of acting, but they have a freshness and vigor, a pacing and inventiveness that more than makes up for any of their stumbles.
		All in all, its got the flubs one is used to with old school kung fu transfers, but, if you are a fan, its a neat enough film to have and forgive its flaws.

		I remember first seeing this movie on USA Network when I was really young.
		See the Bleeding Birds fly through the air, cutting down trees, and people, as the evil man uses his weapons to aid his war on the shaolin temple.
		This film has some great Martial arts action, and a above average cast of cheracters but the movie seems to lag in some places, which gets you somewhat confused, but the action at the end i feel justifies.

		Between the less-than-gripping translation, the unfamiliar historical milieu, the Looney Toons sound effects, and the long stretches of bewildering fight editing that ignored narrative in favor of lotsa pritty colors, I felt like I was trying to watch a movie from outside a room through the window.

		In SHAOLIN KUNG FU MYSTAGOGUE (1976), the fights feature more exaggerated stunts and special effects than normal for a mid-70s kung fu film.
		There is greater use of gimmicky weapons, including an amazing device that opens up to 3 blades and flies, slices through trees (and human bodies), and returns to its owner like a boomerang.
