Somehow this became a testimony for the next generations, I mean if the bible and all the stories about god in it is only some sort of myth..these people must be so darn silly for sacrificing their lifes like that.
Really i don't think that Greek mythology can be compared to the Bibile, becuase the the greeks had no concept of religion, in comparison to what we define as religion.
So I think the myths and legends that occur in the bible and which echo stories that appear also in other ancient literature, are still believed and accepted because they are an integral part of the bible and though possibly allegorical, endure because they contain truth.

This is an abridged version (I didn't have enough money on me at the time to buy his unabridged version, also there, and which I am very much looking forward to buying), and the stories are fairly short (about 2-5 pages each), without having all the rich details that the unabridged doubtless has.
As I mentioned I'm getting big into mythology and plan on buying the unabridged version fairly soon, but this abridged version is a great introduction to mythology, Greek and otherwise-- and not a bad price, either.
