| | Mythopoeic Elements (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-30) |
 | | It is hard for modern man, in a world where miracles are made commonplace through the dependable and proven disciplines of science and technology, to relate to the ancient mind-set, to grasp the feelings of awe the ancient man experienced when confronted by the forces of nature. |
 | | In this endeavor, it is important to keep in mind that the underlying theme, the crucial key to the various ancient near-eastern creation epics, that which explains the similar—and indeed, dissimilar—elements, is the mythopoeic approach the ancients utilized in the attempt to order and quantify their universe. |
 | | After all, given the facts about the tools the ancients had to work with, we might be less apt to condemn them for their mythopoeic approach; but in a day where science plays such an obvious role, we can not really apply a knowledge of mythopoeicism to any relative historical topics or problems. |
