		Gauge theories became even more attractive when it was realized that non-abelian gauge theories reproduced a feature called asymptotic freedom, that was believed to be an important characteristic of strong interactions—thereby motivating the search for a gauge theory of the strong force.
		Note that although gauge theory is dominated by the study of connections (primarily because it's mainly studied by high-energy physicists), the idea of a connection is not essential or central to gauge theory in general.
		One thing to note is that not all gauge transformations can be generated by infinitesimal gauge transformations in general; for example, when the base manifold is a compact manifold without boundary such that the homotopy class of mappings from that manifold to the Lie group is nontrivial.

		N scale (or sometimes N gauge) is a popular model railway size, allowing hobbyists to build layouts that take up less space than HO scale, or put longer track runs into the same amount of space, because the models are smaller (by nearly a half) than they are in HO scale (1:87).
		N gauge track and components are also used with larger scales, in particular HOe and 009 scale for modelling narrow gauge railways.
		The track gauge was widened to a nominal 9 mm and rails were isolated with non-conductive ties (sleepers) for DC operation.

		N scale is way too small for me. However, I do have a table that I built in a woodworking class at school a couple years ago that I built with the intention of having room for a train inside.
		I was thinking of buying a TT gauge set that came up on ebay for it instead, but the curves had too wide of a radius.
		N is fine but finicky and not for those of us that keep moving the newspaper back and forth until it comes into focus!

		At the N Gauge Society's AGM held in Barrow-on-Soar, the 'Modern Area Group' attended for the first time with a display stand at the accompanying exhibition.
		Unfortunately there is probably an under-representation of all N gauge layouts at exhibitions and in particular those from the 'modern' era.
		There are plenty of existing standards for N gauge modules so we would suggest that there may be little point in the 'group' trying to invent a new one.

		The N Gauge Society was formed in 1967 by a small group of N Gauge modellers from West Yorkshire, supported by the late Sydney Pritchard, the founder of the present day Peco Railway Models.
		The Society's aims then, as now were to promote the gauge and encourage active participation in N gauge railway modelling.
		In the late 60's, the Society campaigned for British N gauge standards as, at that time, we were reliant on foreign manufacturers and Lima in particular were producing models that were hopelessly out of scale with coaches at 1:160 and wagons at 1:140 (their locomotives were even worse).

		Right now, my biggest dilemma is whether I should switch all the couplers to a knuckle-type from the rapido's that most of my rolling stock has.
		So far, the microtrains are great...the Kato couplers seem rather touchy, prone to releasing a few of the knuckle-type cars (microtrains and roundhouse)...but until I gauge everything, finish tuning the track, I won't blame the couplers.
