The N6 Tyrellspass to Kilbeggan scheme completes Phase I of the Kinnegad to Kilbeggan 28 kms project on the main Dublin to Galway road and bypasses the towns of Milltownpass, Rochfortbridge and Tyrrellspass, while removing over 10,000 vehicles from these towns daily.
This project which is part of the East/West Strategic Road Corridor is another major step in the improvement of road infrastructure serving the west of Ireland.
The opening of the Tyrellspass to Kilbeggan section completes phase one of the N6 Kinnegad to Athlone scheme and construction is well underway on phase two -Kilbeggan to Athlone.

  Road Traffic Technology - Kilcock to Kinnegad M4/M6 Motorway, Republic Of Ireland
The road has been under consideration and planning since June 1999 when the Irish government asked the NRA to assess the suitability of the project for PPP implementation.
This contract is the first of ten PPP road schemes to be delivered by the NRA as part of a national development plan (an investment in infrastructure of €52 billion).
The road was expected to take three years to construct and thereafter Eurolink can collect tolls for a period of 27 years before the concession terminates and ownership reverts to the Irish Government in 2033 (the road is designed to have a further ten-year life after this before any major structural strengthening is required).
