The NAICS revision was made to increase comparability in specific areas and to recognize important changes which have occurred since the introduction of NAICS in 1997.
NAICS was jointly adopted in 1997 by Canada, Mexico and the United States against the backdrop of NAFTA.
NAICS is based on supply side principles to ensure that industrial data, classified to NAICS, is suitable for the analysis of production related issues such as industrial performance, inputs and outputs, productivity, unit labour costs and employment.

The five-digit NAICS for vegetables and melons is 11121, and there were 4,700 US vegetable establishments reporting an average 100,000 employees and paying them in 2002 $1.8 billion, an average $18,500 a year or $360 a week.

The rate of 11.3 fatal work injuries per 100,000 workers for workers 65 and older was more than three times the rate of 3.3 fatalities per 100,000 workers for those 25 to 34 years of age.
The total of 1,167 self-employed workers who were fatally injured in 2003 represented an increase of 11 percent over the number reported in 2002.

NAICS code 561320, Temporary Help Services, and NAICS code 561330, Employment Leasing Services--On June 6, 2000, SBA published a final rule establishing a size standard of $10 million in average annual receipts for Help Supply Services, SIC code 7363 (65 FR 35810- 35813).
The activities described by SIC 7363 are related to NAICS 561320 and NAICS 561330.
Therefore, size standards NAICS 561320 and NAICS 561330 are being updated to conform the table of size standards based on NAICS to the June 6, 2000, Federal Register notice.
