 Eclipse Project Naming Policy
Projects are strong encouraged to use a descriptive name - a name that is useful when placed into a box on an Eclipse architecture diagram.
If a team strongly prefers to use a nickname style project name, instead of a purely descriptive project name, there should also be a longer "more official, but less often used" (MOLU) combination nickname-descriptive project name.
If the project is in the Proposal Phase, or is a Technology Project, that fact must be mentioned early in the document.

I had assumed that this was also true during the period when exchange names were in use, but we discovered phone numbers with 0 as the second digit (this was a phone number which was not written using an exchange name however).
Originally, the central office name was also the exchange name, and the central office was often named for the town or street where it was located.
An exchange name is a word that is used to represent the first two letters of a 7 digit telephone number (exchange names have nothing to do with area codes or country codes).

Earlier scenarios were revised to include names of individuals in the database, and to exercise site features not considered previously, specifically date range queries.
One participant, P3, also suggested that we provide a way to indicate when the short records are for the same individual but under their previous names, such as an alias or maiden name.
However, users became confused when they clicked on a previous name to view the long record, as the current name is set in large, bold letters, drawing attention away from the “other” names formatted in a smaller font.

On Naming an Open Source Project
Problem #1: I've told you the name but you still don't know what it is. The name is so creative that is has almost NO connection to the project itself.
With a memorable or comfortable name, a project at least stands a chance of anchoring itself in people's minds, and then providing a handle through which those minds can find, investigate, and think about the project.
And, that name has to be easily spelled, pronounced, and remembered so that others can search for the project, talk about the project, think about the project.

In the suit, Cleve Jones also alleges that the foundation did not keep its promise to reopen a quilt project office in San Francisco, where the quilt was first sewn and where the foundation was located until 2001.
