		Airspace and facility restrictions preclude NAS Norfolk from serving as the home station for tactical air units, and in the 1950s NAS Oceana was expanded to Master Jet Base status to serve that purpose.

		In late June 2004 I was invited to NAS Oceana to photograph the fl F-14D Tomcat "Vandy-1" prior to her being repainted and put on display at the front gate.
