The NBA was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946 as the Basketball Association of America (BAA).
Following the recent changes to the National Hockey League's scheduling format, the NBA is now the only major league in which all the teams play each other during the regular season, and where a season ticket holder can see every team in the league come to town in any one season.
The NBA Coach of the Year Award is awarded to either the best coach in the league or the coach that has made the most positive difference to a team.

Los Angeles Lakers was my favorite NBA team in the 1980s when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and Byron Scott played together to win NBA championship titles in 1985, 1987, and 1988.
Although I wished that Kobe (who was still too young at 21 in his 4th-year NBA season) should enroll in college and get better skills in basketball before turning to pros, both Shaquille and Kobe were ones of the greatest players in the NBA this year.
It was also their first time to win the championship title in 12 years since the last time they won (in 1988).
