 NCAA Division I Legislative Proposals
This approach is consistent with the recommendation of the NCAA Division I Incentives/Disincentives Working Group and with the approach used by the NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification for institutions failing to meet certification requirements.
The cabinet noted that the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Issues Committee also supported the proposal and agreed with its recommendation to have the sponsors consider allowing the institution to take two days off in either the week preceding or the week following the week in which the basketball team plays three contests.
It also encourages football student-athletes who are on track to graduate, but who have used four seasons of competition in their first four years of collegiate enrollment, to remain at the institution for a fifth year and to both complete their remaining undergraduate degree requirements and compete in a fifth season of competition.
