DENVER -Three University of Denver scholar-athletes, Pietro Broggini, Joern Frohs (skiing) and Bjorn Engstrom (hockey) were named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America Team selected by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced today.
Frohs (Mittelsaida, Germany/Oberwiesenthal H.S./German Ski Team), also a member of the national champion ski team, was named to the second team by dint of his 3.91 grade point average majoring in business/information technology.
Engstrom (Akarp, Sweden) was named to the third team with a 3.89 grade point average while majoring in chemistry, following his hockey career, he plans to attend medical school.
