The university was originally founded as the Prince of Wales's Engineering College with donations from Karachi citizens to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales in 1921.
The College was renamed as NED Engineering College in 1924 in honour of the philanthropist Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw.
The college was upgraded to an additional campus of the University of Karachi in 1976, and finally raised to university level on March 1, 1977.

The ordination ceremony was over and Ned was on his way to the office of Notre Dame's president, Father John Cavanaugh, to give him a blessing, something young priests still do for relatives and close friends on ordination day.
Ned is a Southerner from Spartanburg, South Carolina; I am a Yankee from Syracuse in upstate New York.
Ned, on the other hand, tends to take a conservative stance about most things, especially in the area of finance.

The University, which was in shambles in the years gone by, has witnessed enormous change to reach its present status.
Should we not be praising the University administration for having devised a system that binds even the teaching faculty to remain available at the campus during the length of the office hours (8.30 am to 3.30 pm).
Today’s students at the NED University are much better off because none of their teachers is inaccessible during the office hours.

he NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi was established in March, 1977 under an Act of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh for upgrading th former NED Government Engineering College, Karachi.
However, the NED Government Engineering College, which originally formed the nucleus of the University structure, was set up in 1922 and was thus the oldest institution of Pakistan for teaching and producing graduate engineers.
It was upgraded as additional Campus of the University of Karachi in 1976 and finally raised the university level on March, 1977.

NED accepts the best undergraduate students with outstanding academic ranking, yet after four years of education they receive at the university they find themselves struggling with their careers.
A brilliant student from NED with exceptional test scores is rejected admission by top ranking engineering schools like Stanford and MIT as NED has failed to establish a good academic standing.
I demand a high-level inquiry to ascertain the grounds on which the NED administration refused the proposal for the establishment of research institutes using foreign grant.

 KARACHI: NED disaffiliates GCT’s degree programmes -DAWN - Local; March 22, 2002
KARACHI, March 21: The NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, has disaffiliated the Government College of Technology (GCT), Karachi, and the college would now no more be able to conduct the B.Tech (honours and pass) programmes.
An official of NED University said that the University had cancelled the GCT affiliation for three-years in B.Tech Honours and for two-years in B.Tech (Pass) degree programmes after getting an approval of the syndicate.
The NED affiliation committee placed the case and condition of GCT before the academic council of the NED university after several inspections.

 Ned O’Gorman, 1929-. American author
He received Guggenheim fellowships in 1956 and 1962, and his poetry won the Lamont Poetry Selection award in 1958, leading to the first publication of his collected works, The Night of the Hammer, in 1959.
His contract was abruptly cancelled in 1960 for the following year, probably because of his involvement in peace demonstrations held there by the students.
O’Gorman announces his pleasure in meeting her and arranging for a dinner meeting, Pencil and pen scribbles, presumably by Ella Logan.

The papers trace O'Gorman's career from a graduate student at Columbia University in the late 1950's to his tenure at the Children's Storefront in the mid 1980's.
Another interesting manuscript is that of Edna Ramsey Yellins, a fl woman from Harlem; the manuscript tells the story of her life as she recorded it for her children, beginning in rural Mississippi and ending up in Manhattan in the mid 1970's.
The series also holds notebooks and "diaries" kept by Ned O'Gorman, containing a wide variety of material, from class notes to appointments to fragments of poems and essays.

Ned Djilali is Director of the Institute for Integrated Energy Systems and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria.
