NESCAC is the New England Small College Athletic Conference, and consists of Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Connecticut, Hamilton, Middlebury, Trinity, Tufts, Wesleyan, and Williams.
Encouragement of more play between NESCAC schools (particularly for Hamilton College in New York and for the Maine schools) is a valid goal, though care should be taken to exempt those sports from the playing conference that have very short schedules.
NESCAC athletes put a great deal of energy into their sports and deserve the chance to excel at the national level.

NESCAC is committed first and foremost to academic excellence, and has established common practices to keep athletics strong and in proportion to the academic mission of the member institutions.
Admissions offices work closely with athletic departments to ensure that students on all intercollegiate NESCAC teams are representative of each institution’s student body and are admitted with the expectation of their full participation in the life of the college.
All NESCAC institutions except Amherst and Williams have an Early Decision Round Two option with a notification period between February 1 and February 15.

Summary: Some would consider the NESCAC a "Little Ivy" League in that the member schools are consistently ranked as some of the top private liberal arts schools in the country by US News and World Report.
NESCAC coaches are not allowed to recruit off campus, so most of what they do is by phone, email, and mail, plus attending camps and showcases.
In my opinion, if you want some help with the NESCAC football recruiting process, John Papas is your man. He runs the New England Elite Football Camp and hires 70 college football coaches a year.

They lambast other NESCAC school's in the posts for letting in "1000 SAT scores" and apparently have not researched their own history as 1000's may have been an improvement for some of their recruits from the last decade.
The greatest thing about NESCAC athletics is that while very competive (even on a D3 national scale in most sports) it remains merely another way to enhance the academic experience.
NESCAC football is not really recognized by the NCAA and it's safe to say that the Men's Ice Hockey and Baseball Teams are doing quite well also.

Colby head coach Candice Parent was named NESCAC Coach of the Year for the second time and junior libero Kendall Kirby (Piedmont/Piedmont, Calif.) was the league's Defensive Player of the Year.

At minimum, NESCAC is cenral to the sporting experience of student-athletes at Williams, Amherst, Tufts, Middlebury, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, wesleyan, Trinity, Connecticut College, and Hamilton.
Williams and the NESCAC have decided that this is part of the culture they want to have and students are free to choose whether to join it or not (and even if they are non-athletes who want to go to Williams they are saying that they approve of the culture Williams has chosen to foster).

Finishing the season with a 9-1 conference record, the 26-5 Jumbos earned the second seed in the NESCAC Tournament, which will be held this upcoming weekend at Williams.
Hamilton has been the worst team in the NESCAC this year, with an 0-10 conference record and a 6-18 overall record.
Having completed their regular season, the Jumbos will now prepare for the NESCAC Tournament in hopes of winning their first conference championship since 1996, when they defeated Williams.

When Trinity College defeated Wesleyan in its 2004 season finale, it wrapped up the New England Small College Athletic Conference title and the No. 1 ranking among Division 3 schools in New England while extending the nation's longest winning streak to 22 games.
Trinity has three talented quarterbacks, including senior Josh Pitcher, who led the NESCAC in pass efficiency, plus junior running back and All-America candidate Gennaro Leo of Everett, one of six returning all-conference players.
