In a way, NFL Blitz succeeds and succeeds well, but as is the case for a lot of the game's features they just aren't that spectacular anymore.
NFL Blitz 2001 is the only sports game I can remember that has made me dizzy.

 NFL Blitz 2003 - Gamecube
NFL Blitz isn’t a realistic game at all, and it wasn’t meant to be as it’s sole purpose is for the amusing enjoyment you get out of pile driving the quarterback after you already dove at him from 15 feet away and sacked him.
Blitz isn’t big on running plays, so for those who love to play the passing game like I do, you’re going to be in heaven playing Blitz, because there are all sorts of passing combinations and my two favorites, Da Bomb and Hail Mary.
Overall, NFL Blitz 2003 is a really fun game, and lets you get away from ordinary everyday things in life, so you don’t get in trouble or kicked off the Varsity team for body slamming your quarterback after sacking him because you’re in a bad mood or something.

Blitz 20-03 is indeed excellent single-player fun, however, and it's one of the best party and multi-player games on the Xbox, including up to four players teaming up (in a two-on-two game).

The bread and butter of Blitz is the super fast and super violent gameplay that was born with the great arcade game NBA Jam and expertly adapted for football by the team at Midway.
Blitz runs so fast that in the heat of the moment you might be highlighting the left guy and as you press the pass button you quickly switch to the center man and throw into double coverage.
Blitz passing is live al the time, just like the conventional analog passing and doesn't have to be activated.

Bottom line: NFL Blitz is "pick up and play" easy to learn and "can't put down" irresistible fun.
While it's true that the arcade version of NFL Blitz sports a higher-res polish than the Nintendo 64 conversion, you'd have to be one hell of a cynic to be bitter about the way the graphics turned out in this cart.

NFL Blitz is known for being fast, loose, and out of control.
You play Blitz on a short field with 30-yard first downs and seven-man teams (three linemen, three backs/receivers, and a quarterback), and you basically try to ram the ball into the end zone as hard as you can.
NFL Blitz was a good idea when it started, but it has a lot of growing up to do to remain interesting.

Blitz however, worked on a completely different level than sim games, as it offered the kind of arcade gameplay that defined plenty of humorous antics and a non-serious attitude.
NFL Blitz Pro also includes a Franchise mode, which is a nice addition but isn't nearly as complicated as the modes featured in Madden and ESPN.
As is, NFL Blitz Pro still comes recommended, and surprised me for being the positive effort it has become overall.
