The NFL office should be apprised that the Browns will not quietly abide an officiating crew that, if not consciously biased, performs unevenly throughout the game to the detriment of the Browns and, really, to the credibility of the league’s supposed competitive balance.
Three of the first five winners played total of three NFL games among them, so obviously a great training camp is no long-term meal ticket.
With the NFL Europe roster exemptions (which I overlooked in my previous post on this subject), the team is saved from having to fully reveal its hand.

Fred Graves, mainly a college coach but with three years of pro experience in Buffalo, is hired to coach the wide receivers.
Steve Hagan, another college-level coach brought in by Butch to coach the tight ends in 2001, was named to coach the quarterbacks, whoever they may be.

In the AFC West, four of the five teams won divisions; San Diego was shut out, but the Chargers had won the division and played in the Super Bowl in 1994, and they were the top AFC wild card team in 1995.
Only in the AFC Central was there more than one team that did not win a division title, and even this is a bit deceptive, as the Baltimore Ravens won a Super Bowl after finishing the 2000 season as the top wild card team.
We're operating from something of a limited data set here, but it sure looks like there's greater competitive balance in the NFL, operating under a salary cap, than there is in Major League Baseball, which lacks a cap.

I have always been and will always be a fan of the Detroit Tigers, my home-state baseball team.
The Tigers gave me two of the greatest moments of my life: World Series victories in 1968 (when I was 11) and in 1984 (when I was 27).
I've been busy around the house: cleaning, cooking, reading the newspaper, and watching the NFL playoffs on my 42-inch plasma television (in high definition!).

That trophy, of course, has come to be known as the Stanley Cup and is awarded today to the franchise that wins the National Hockey League playoffs.
