		NFWA is the driving force behind the annual Blessing of the Fleet day of activities in Yaquina Bay, held annually on the third Saturday in March as a celebration of the local fleet and day of remembrance for Lincoln County fishermen lost at sea.
		NFWA members are also among the first to bring comfort to families affected by the loss of a fisherman.
		Donations to NFWA are tax-deductible, and may be sent to Newport Fishermen's Wives Inc., PO Box 971, Newport, Ore. 97365.

		The NFWA marched three hundred miles across California, from Delano to Sacramento, to draw attention to the union’s contract negotiations with the Schenley Corporation and the DiGiorgio ranch.
		The marchers brought NFWA flags, as well as banners that pictured the Virgin of Guadalupe with an inscription that read “Don’t Eat the Grapes.” The Virgin of Guadalupe was a common sight when the Chicanos were picketing.
		NFWA won the second election despite the fact that DiGiorgio fired 190 Mexican workers the day before the election, in an attempt to influence the outcome.

		Although the first strike by the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) was organized by Chavez in April 1965 for rose workers, it was the boycott of table grapes that propelled the NFWA into national prominence.
