NGC 205 is peculiar in that evidence exists for recent star formation in what nominally should be a galaxy composed of old stars.
The spiral galaxy, NGC 5194, and its companion, NGC 5195, known together as Messier 51 (the "Whirlpool Nebula," or "Whirlpool Galaxy").
Imaging NGC 7814 in the near-IR with 2MASS allows a satisfactory decomposition of the bulge and disk in the galaxy and the determination of the fundamental characteristics of both components (Peletier & Knapen 1992, Messenger, 70, 57).

Comparing Correlation Dimensions and Capacity Dimensions   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
When the contours are drawn around NGC 2403 for various values of magnitudes, they break into many small contours creating a distribution of points at greater distances.
This is also true for the spiral galaxy NGC 4303, one of whose contours and fractal dimensions are shown in Figure 7 and Figure 8 respectively.
NGC 3031 is classified as a spiral galaxy.

It seems pointless to me to log the same object twice, so I'll adopt the popular NGC 5866 as a placeholder.
However, I won't refer to NGC 5866 as M102 as long as there is no consensus that Pierre Méchain erred in admitting error.
he wrote that it was because many people did not accept NGC 205 as a Messier object.

Neutral Hydrogen in M 108 (NGC 3556) and the Discovery of HI Supershells
We present the first high resolution HI maps of the nearby edge-on galaxy, M 108 (NGC 3556).
This galaxy is known to have a radio continuum thick disk and we have now found HI arcs and extensions protruding from the plane on kpc scales.

 Messier Object 108
Spiral Galaxy M108 (NGC 3556), type Sc, in Ursa Major
According to Charles Messier's hand-written preliminary and unpublished version of his catalog, M108, similar to M109, was discovered by Pierre Méchain shortly after M97 (which he had found February 16, 1781): Méchain discovered M108 3 days after M97 on February 19, 1781, and M109 on March 12, 1781.
Color photos show an even more conspicuous appearance of this should-be showpiece, which often appears in wide field and "deep spatial depth" photos together with the Owl nebula M97, which is only about 48' to the SE.

Spiral Galaxy M108 = NGC 3556   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
This color-composite CCD image shows the bright late-type spiral galaxy M108 (NGC 3556) in Ursa Major.
This galaxy shows an especially good example of dust structure with substantial thickness in the galaxy disk; even though it is several degrees from edge-on, substantial dust shows up in front of the nuclear bulge.
A few of the brighter field stars saturated the CCD so strongly that some of the electrical charge bled along columns, giving the vertical streaks from several stars.
