NGC 4147 (12h10.1 +18 33) We'll start of with a globular cluster, which at 140X was seen as a little bright, pretty small, and irregularly round.
NGC 4192 (12h13.9 +14 55) This galaxy is M-98, which I saw as big, somewhat bright, very elongated NW/SE, with a slightly brighter middle and an occasional nucleus.
NGC 4254 (12h18.9 +14 26) M-99 is a galaxy right next to a magnitude 7 star which does interfere slightly.

NGC 3310, on the other hand, almost fits along the fiducial galaxy sequence; this starburst is believed to be produced by a bar instability or minor interaction (Conselice et al.
The fact that NGC 3310 does not fit exactly along this sequence is probably due to the fact that it was involved with a minor merger in the past (Balik and Heckman 1981).
NGC 3310 and NGC 7678, which have symmetric inner spiral structures and are probably older starbursts perhaps triggered by bar instabilities, have smaller line-width ratios and are less deviant from the fiducial sequence in color and asymmetry.

NGC 5055 has a polarization degree higher than some grand-design spirals and nearly the same as NGC 4254 (see Soida et al.
NGC 3521 is the least polarized object in our sample, however its polarization degree is only a factor of 0.7 lower than that of the strong density-wave, similarly inclined object NGC 3627 (Soida et al.
Separate models were computed for NGC 3521 and NGC 5055, taking into account their inclinations from Table 1 and the fact that the central region of NGC 3521 is unpolarized while in NGC 5055 the polarized emission fills the whole inner disk.

Shown are the extractions from the central BCD in maps for NGC 1097 (an AGN nucleus with a circumnuclear ring), NGC 1404 (an elliptical galaxy), NGC 4254 (SA(s)c galaxy), and an extra-nuclear region in the spiral arms of NGC 4254.
NGC 1404 is an elliptical galaxy with very weak MIR emission.
As in the case of NGC 1404, the lack of a background subtraction causes a mismatch in the SL orders but otherwise the differences in the calibrations follow the same trend as before.

NGC 205 is peculiar in that evidence exists for recent star formation in what nominally should be a galaxy composed of old stars.
The spiral galaxy, NGC 5194, and its companion, NGC 5195, known together as Messier 51 (the "Whirlpool Nebula," or "Whirlpool Galaxy").
Imaging NGC 7814 in the near-IR with 2MASS allows a satisfactory decomposition of the bulge and disk in the galaxy and the determination of the fundamental characteristics of both components (Peletier & Knapen 1992, Messenger, 70, 57).

 Virgo cluster
NGC 4438 is a typical example of a galaxy undergoing effects from the environment (Figure 3) It is located very close to the center of the Virgo Cluster and has the most disturbed morphology among all the galaxies of the cluster.
There are strong reasons to think that NGC 4438 underwent a tidal interaction with a companion (NGC 4435) and is undergoing the effects of ram pressure stripping by the intra-cluster medium.

In addition to NGC 253 (Figure 6), a prime example is M63 (NGC 5055).
The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51ab, NGC 5194/95) is one of the most studied objects in the sky by both professional and amateur astronomers alike (over 800 references in NED alone), owing to its proximity (8.7 Mpc), angular extent on the sky (~12 arcmin diameter in the visual), double galaxy interaction, and its beautiful grand design spiral.
Its northern companion, M51b (NGC 5195), is classified as a barred S0, with a LINER nucleus.

Universe Today - Dark Matter Galaxy?
NGC 4254 is lopsided, with one spiral arm much larger than the rest.
This is usually caused by the influence of a companion galaxy, but none could be found until now - the team thinks VIRGOHI 21 is the culprit.
Gas from NGC 4254 is being torn away by the dark galaxy, forming a temporary link between the two and stretching the arm of the spiral galaxy.
