The Sb galaxy NGC 2841 was observed at the 6 m telescope of SAO RAS with the Multi-Pupil Field Spectrograph and at the 1 m telescope of SAO RAS with the long-slit spectrograph.
The rotation axis of the nuclear ionized gas in NGC 2841 is orthogonal to that of the central stellar population; an existence of a bulge stellar component with decoupled rotation momentum in the radius range 5" - 12" is suspected.
NGC 4550 exhibits complex extended structures in its center that can be identified by enhanced levels of magnesium and iron indices; the stellar population of the unresolved nucleus is younger than that of the circumnuclear region.

It is known that NGC 4501 has high degree of central gas concentration for a non-barred galaxy.
To understand gas motions in NGC 4501, we did model calculations of gas cloud orbits governed by a stellar spiral potential, which is a modification of the model with a bar potential.

Spiral Galaxy M88 (NGC 4501), type Sc, in Coma Berenices
M88 is one of the eight galaxies found on March 18, 1781 by Charles Messier in the Coma-Virgo region, and described by him as "nebula without stars," "one of the faintest" objects, and similar to M58.
Type Ia Supernova 1999cl occurred in M88 on May 28, 1999, was discovered on May 29, 1999 at magnitude 16.4 and reached magnitude 13.6..13.8 (June 5, 1999).

The Messier Objects are all present, as are the 110 Finest NGC objects from the The RASC Observer's Handbook as well as many of the objects on the list of RASC Deep-Sky Challenge Objects.
Small scopes are defined as those up to 6", big scopes from 8" to 10", and challenge objects are best viewed with scopes of 11" diameter and larger.

The stripping of the ISM of spiral galaxies falling into a galaxy cluster is one of the most interesting environmental effects in galaxy evolution.
In the nearby Virgo cluster we may be able to observe this process in detail.
From 21 cm data and from ROSAT HRI X-ray observations there is strong evidence that the spiral galaxy NGC 4501 is currently stripped from its interstellar gas.

It presents B and I band CCD images of 13 of these galaxies.
The principal findings are: (1) between 1/4 and 1/3 of these nuclear regions show K band evidence of triaxiality, (2) approximately 1/2 of these galaxies have axisymmetric nuclear regions, and (3) NGC 4321 has a bar that is not detectable in the optical images.
Description: The tables contain elliptical isophotes interactively fit to the K images using the Space Telescope Science Data Analysis Software (STSDAS) task ELLIPSE.
