Oman signed a deal with France's NH Industries (NHI) Saturday to purchase 20 NH90 helicopters for its air force, the official ONA news agency reported.
ONA said the deal, inked by a top NHI executive and the Omani minister responsible for defense affairs, Sayed Badr bin Saud bin Hareb al-Busaidi, was part of Oman's drive to upgrade its air force.
It did not give the value of the helicopters, manufactured as part of a European venture, but said that under the agreement, NHI would participate in "joint development projects" with Muscat.
