At the time a driver enters a divisional event for the first time of the season, it is required that said driver declare which NHRA division (Southeast Division, North Central Division, or South Central Division) is to be his or her home division.
To be eligible for official NHRA Top Sportsman points and subsequent postseason awards, a contestant must participate at a minimum of three races within his or her home division.
NHRA MEMBERSHIP: All contestants in the NHRA Jeg's Super Quick Series must be current members of NHRA; membership forms are available in the tech/registration area at the event.

NHRA held its first official race in April 1953, on a slice of the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds parking lot in Pomona, Calif. Four decades later, that track has undergone a $6-million expansion and renovation and hosts the NHRA season-opening Winternationals and the season finale, the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.
In 1955, NHRA staged its first national event, called simply "the Nationals" in Great Bend, Kan. Six years later, as the Nationals hop-scotched around the country to showcase the growing sport before settling in Indianapolis in 1961, the Winternationals became NHRA's second event.
Now in its fifth decade, NHRA is the world's largest motorsports sanctioning body with 80,000 members, 140 member tracks, more than 35,000 licensed competitors, and more than 5,000 member-track events.

 Drag Racing Online - Analysis: Winston Drops NHRA pg.1 Vol. III No. 7 July 2001
After 27 years of sponsoring NHRA drag racing (and prior to that IHRA drag racing) the R. Reynolds Tobacco Company and their Winston brand will no longer be associated with drag racing.
NHRA's TV package is good but is way behind what the Winston Cup broadcasts have to offer sponsors.
Apparently, even though NHRA has known for at least two years that there was a very good possibility that RJR would drop their sponsorship of NHRA drag racing, they evidently have been unable to secure a replacement sponsor.

NHRA officials made the right decision in postponing the race not only from a racing standpoint but from a humanitarian point of view as well.
Even if the NHRA wanted to roll the dice and hope the race would finish on Sunday before the storm’s rains hit, that would be a dicey call at best.
With the NHRA postponing the race, those hotel rooms can now be made available for those that are fleeing the storm and desperately in need of shelter.

NHRA has determined that over 30 degree angle is not an upright and in the area below the roll cage could create a problem.
This rule may be because of something NHRA saw when a sc or sg car crashed, I don't know but I do know if NHRA thinks it could be a problem I am glad they passed the rule before my son or one of your children get hurt.
There is a reason for every rule NHRA makes and it's to improve safety and this is true from the seatbelt rule everyone hates to the brake rotor rule everyone hollered about.

NHRA has inked a deal with TSN Canada's national T.V. sports network to commence broadcasting NHRA national events this season beginning with the Mac Tools Gatornationals in March.
