	NLL All Star Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The 2005 NLL All Star Game was played on February 26, 2005 in the Pengrowth Saddledome, the home of the Calgary Roughnecks.
		The NLL moved the date of the game from February 27th to the 26th to accommodate NBC's schedule.
		Lewis Ratcliff, a forward for the Calgary Roughnecks, was the MVP of the game.

		Although the NLL has more teams in the U.S. than in Canada, the NLL indoor game is a Canadian invention and is the dominant game here, with field lacrosse in second place.
		So the NLL game is analagous to the NHL -- started in Canada, spread to the U.S. It's odd that in the States NBC is going to broadcast the all-star game, while in Canada the CBC hasn't broadcast games for about 50 years.

		Since the NLL debuted in 1998, there have been three more All Star fests, in '99, '02 and last season, when 16,742 Mammoth fans filled the Pepsi Center to near-capacity, and The Score cable sports network in Canada provided the only live broadcast.
		The acknowledgement of Gary Gait's monumental contribution to the pro indoor game, and the opportunity for him to deliver his "leaving the game in the capable hands of the new generation of NLL stars" message, were handled with grace.
		I hope that the NLL, in acknowledging and analysing this situation, had the foresight to order up some focused viewership numbers in their weaker markets, especially the expansion-driving West, coming out of the All Star Game broadcast.

		With the strong results from the AS game, and with the increased lead time between now and the game, there is ample time to get the word out there for the championship.
		The reason there was no advertising for the All-Star game was because the NLL had paid NBC to air the game (Believe it was 500 000$, not sure) to get more exposier on national television.
		The plan was that getting the game on TV would get more people seeing the game, therefore they would make up 500 000$ on ticket revenues from people who didn't know about lacrosse before it aired.

		The game, last played at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn. after the 2002 season and something that has always been high on the priority list of Commissioner Jim Jennings, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m., Mountain Standard Time.
		Teams will be selected by the fans, the coaches/general managers and the media, with some discretion from the commissioner and will pit the eastern division teams against those in the western division.

		The game fairly flew into sudden-death overtime, and it took just over a minute for the ageless John Tavares of the Buffalo Bandits to twist out of the vice-like grip of San Jose Stealth defensive whiz Jim Moss, and beat red-hot Colorado Mammoth goaltender Gee Nash with a winning goal for the ages.
		The NLL All-Star Game was a nice reminder of what really matters in sports.
