Nuclear magnetic resonance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
NMR studies a magnetic nucleus, like that of a hydrogen atom, by aligning it with an external magnetic field and perturbing this alignment using an electromagnetic field.
The sensitivity of NMR signals is also dependent, as noted above, on the presence of a magnetically-susceptible nuclide, and therefore either on the natural abundance of such nuclides, or on the ability of the experimentalist to artificially enrich the molecules under study with such nuclides.
A relatively recent example of NMR being used in the determination of a structure is that of buckminsterfullerene.

Nuclear magnetic resonance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
NMR spectroscopy is one of the principal techniques used to obtain physical, chemical, electronic and structural information about a molecule.
NMR was first described independently by Felix Bloch and Edward Mills Purcell in 1946, (both of whom shared the Nobel Prize in physics in 1952 for their discovery).
The development of NMR as a technique of analytical chemistry and biochemistry parallels the development of electromagnetic technology and its introduction into civilian use.

 NMR Spectroscopy
Nmr spectroscopy is therefore the energetically mildest probe used to examine the structure of molecules.
The magnitude or intensity of nmr resonance signals is displayed along the vertical axis of a spectrum, and is proportional to the molar concentration of the sample.
C nmr spectroscopy is the use of high-field pulse technology coupled with broad-band heteronuclear decoupling of all protons.

B NMR chemical shifts is a selected compilation of representative organoborane and boron compounds that we believe would be of interest to the organoborane community and to my research group at San Diego State University.
There are a variety of types of borane compounds that are absent from this compilation, including the carboranes, metal complexes, etc. While we have made a reasonable effort to ensure the accuracy of this data, errors are probably inevitable.
B NMR spectra generally shows a B-H coupling, unless there is a fast exchange of the hydrogens on the NMR time scale.

 NMR Spectroscopy - Theory
It is important to remember that, with NMR, we are performing experiments on the nuclei of atoms, not the electrons.
Nuclei in an NMR experiment are in a sample.
You should now be familiar with the basic principles of NMR spectroscopy, such as the splitting of nuclear energy levels in a magnetic field and how a transition between the levels can be induced.

 NMR & X-ray crystallography glossary
Because of the strength of NMR in studying protein structure and function, NMR techniques are receiving renewed interest in pressure studies of proteins.
Two methods are available for NMR studies at high pressure; one employs a thick wall NMR sample tube inside a commercial NMR probe and the other utilizes a dedicated NMR probe with sample and detection coils enclosed within an external pressure vessel.
NMR strategy in which the tube is rotated at very high speed and at a specific angle which cancels out the line broadening effects of inhomogeneities in the sample.
