		From being a regional party formed for the 'self-respect' of Telugu people to becoming a key political force both in the state and nationally, the TDP has come a long way in its 25 years of eventful existence.
		In 1994, NTR led the TDP back to power with a record majority but things took an unexpected turn a year later when his son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu led a revolt against him over interference of his second wife Lakshmi Parvathi in party affairs and administration.
		After the defeat, the party snapped its ties with the BJP to woo Muslims and to move closer to its former ally, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
