NTUA, as a leader of WP7, is responsible for defining the objectives of this workpackage and orienting the corresponding research activities.

To improve efficiency during the past six years, NTUA increased the number of customers per employee, from 120 customers per employee to 140 customers per employee.
NTUA, on the other hand, is regulated by its board of directors that has authority to increase the base rates.
Before it increases its base rates, NTUA will hold a series of public hearings, one of which will be before its board.

 Navajo Tribal Utility Authority brings solar electricity to homes in remote areas
In a program that is the largest of its type in the country, the NTUA is buying 200 photovoltaic systems for $2 million and installing individual units at private residences to furnish electrical power.
Jimmie Daniels, NTUA solar program manager, says the utility decided to offer this alternative power source to its customers because the cost of stringing wire over parts of the reservation's rural terrain is prohibitive.

 News Release - Solar Electricity on Navajo Reservation
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A new solar power initiative of the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) is bringing electricity to the homes of people living in remote areas of the reservation.
The systems give some of these people their first opportunity to live in an illuminated world -- having access to electric light so children can do homework at night and to radios, television, and computers to help reduce rural isolation.
Earlier use of photovoltaics on the Navajo Nation had a problem, which is addressed in this effort -- the systems sometimes failed due to lack of maintenance.

 IVML - Image Video & Multimedia Systems Laboratory
The Image, Video and Multimedia Systems Lab (IVML) of the ICCS in the NTUA was established in 1989 - since then it has been gradually equipped with the necessary computer and general software and hardware for the analysis, processing and synthesis of images and video.
In 1997, the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT) selected IVML, as a Service Providing Lab in its field, to be funded in order to acquire and install professional audiovisual equipment and to implement its ISO 9001 quality management plans.
IVML became the first lab in the ECE department and only the third in the NTUA to obtain the ISO 9001 certificate for the services it provides in the areas of digital image, video and multimedia processing.
