		The main tenets of the NWFP are: 1) to protect and enhance late-successional and old-growth forest ecosystems and habitats for associated species; 2) to provide an ecosystem-wide framework for maintaining and restoring aquatic ecosystems; and 3) to provide for a sustainable supply of timber.
		Although definitions differ by ecosystem, under the NWFP late-successional forests are defined as stands which are generally 80 years and older, and old-growth forests are defined as stands which are 200 years and older.
