NYC had four different classes of Mohawks named L-1 through L-4.

The Key Imports NYC Mohawk is a model of the 25 Class L-4B delivered by Alco during 1943 and 1945.
I might be mistaken, but I think I have seen some NYC steamers by Hallmark.
I also have a few NYC units in brass (an FA1 A and B set) F3 from key, some RS 2's from oriental limited which when tuned up run excellently.

I know most people believe that NYC is one of the most prominent and "overmanufactured" roadnames out there, but there just doesn't seem to ever have been a Mountain class locomotive made for this roadname (except brass).
The NYC moved the bulk of their freight behind either 2-8-2s or 4-8-2s, both of which made up almost half of their overall steam roster in the 1940s and 1950s.
The only problem with using the USRA light Mike to represent all 1300+ of those NYC Mikes is that they only had 135 of them, and only 99 in NYC lettering (the rest went to subsidiary roads).

Class L4b was the first class on the NYC system to feature the multiple-bearing crosshead instead of the "alligator" type still used on the J3 and L3 classes.
This type of pilot could be cast steel, as on newer NYC locomotives, or fabricated from boiler tubing or other extruded material as appears to be the case here.
Sadly, they had little chance to prove their mettle before the NYC opted for internal combustion in place of steam, and were soon demoted to local passenger service.
