The Naas Botha of today is a well-known rugby commentator on the South African Supersport Channel, but in his day as a player he was one of the most feared match-winners in the game.

Botha's 12-year-old son Francois sued his father for damages last year, but the court dismissed the R450000 claim, finding that the boy did not have a constitutional right to fatherly love and acceptance.
Judge K van Dijkhorst sharply criticised Jooste at the time, saying she was the real litigant and the boy was too young to have an inkling of what it was all about.
Botha objected to the claim from the start, saying he had no legal obligation other than to contribute towards the boy's maintenance.

Naas Botha, the former Northern Transvaal star, represented some great provincial sides to come out of Pretoria, but he rates the current Blue Bulls team as one of the finest to have emerged from Loftus Versfeld.
Botha, who went on to captain Northern Transvaal himself, played in the superb team of the late 1970s under the leadership of Thys Lourens.
Botha acknowledges that Anton Leonard, current Bulls captain, is a key member of the side, as was Lourens in the 1970s, but he insists that the marauding loose forward's absence through injury will not necessarily make things easier for the Cheetahs on Saturday.

 Naas
Naas (pronounced [neɪs]; Irish: NГЎs na Riogh [nɑːs nə riː] or An NГЎs [ən nɑːs]) is the county town of County Kildare, Ireland.
One of the first battles of the rebellion of 1798 took place in Naas on 24 May 1798 when a force of about 1,000 rebels was defeated in an unsuccessful attack on the town.
Because Ireland was officially neutral during that war, Ireland imprisoned military personnel from any belligerent who ended up in Irish territory; as a result, the P.O.W. camp in Naas housed American, British, and German soldiers all together in the same camp.
