Following the flooding in the jail premises escort vehicles were requisitioned from nearby areas to transport the prisoners to safety but they could not go far as the roads have been completely washed out, the official said.

While a woman who had refused to identify herself had informed the station authorities on Wednesday about a bomb placed on the platform, another woman caller told the staff on Thursday that she was carrying a bomb herself aboard the Ahmedabad-Valsad passenger that reaches Nadiad station at 11.45 am.
"An unidentified woman called on the railway inquiry number, 131, and said she was travelling on the train without a ticket, and that she was carrying a bomb with her," Nadiad railway station PSI BD Chavda said.

A social activist and a BJP worker immolated himself near Santram Tower here in Nadiad on Tuesday morning in protest against the rampant corruption and illegal constructions prevalent in the Nadiad municipality.

The incident occurred when the car hit the tanker from the rear after the driver of the tanker bracked suddenly, to avoid hitting a tree blocking the road.
