Bare nagamaki blades are of katana-length blades with typical katana-size tang (7–10 inches).
However there are example of nagamaki with rather long nakago (tang), which could be fitted with a longer staff for a haft and effectively function as a naginata.
While nagamaki means "long wrap" they have been found with no ito (cord) at all, which is very much like a long tachi handle.

I can find lots of information on the naginata, but the nagamaki turns up barely any results when i search for it.
Amdur makes the point that there is no general agreement on what exactly a nagamaki is. Generally my impression is that it seems to be sort of midway between a naginata and a big sword (tachi rather than katana).
I'd be inetersted to know what style the nagamaki training you are going to do comes from.

The nagamaki, to me, has a totally different balance and is somewhat unwieldy compared to the naginata which I find more fluid.
I once came upon a reference regarding the use of the weapon on horseback, and the wielder was cautioned to be very careful lest he cut of the head of his own horse.
The Araki Ryu Nagamaki has a four foot haft and a three foot blade attached.

The way it was presented to us, the nagamaki was used in a manner very similar to the naginata with a few minor exceptions.
To my knowledge, there are no formal Kukishinden Ryu kata for the nagamaki, but all of the kata for the naginata can be performed easily with a nagamaki by making the aforementioned alterations in handling and distancing.

If you would not accept it, then certainly the Nagamaki would have to be accepted, as it very often retained the same tsuka-ito wrappings that you would find on the handle of a katana.
The Nagamaki is probably almost the exact same thing as the German Landsknecht, having a handle almost but not quite as long as the blade, and on average would have a 3 foot handle with a blade that was, as previously stated, just a bit longer.
Their use on the battlefield is very well documented, and while I can't provide any exact examples, I really don't think it would be jumping to a conclusion to say that there probably were many that exceeded 6'2".

Yet, the only nagamaki I have seen (that are referred to as "nagamaki")are nagamaki-naoshi, which appear to be little more than a katana blade with a very long tsuka.
The Southern California Naginata Federation says on this page that one of the main differences between naginata and nagamaki is that the handle of a nagamaki is wrapped, like a sword handle- not a wooden pole.
Buthere and here we have weapons that do not have wrapped tsuka that are referred to as nagamaki.
