		This is one of the temples of the Nagarathar clan that is held in high regard for its sculptures.
		A curious feature is that their numbers have not changed for over a hundred years.

		We, presently known as Nattukottai Nagarathars, are believed to have originated from Chandrapuri in the former Naganadu.
		The statue of Theivanayagar at Samy sannathi, is the ancestor of Nagarathars in Theivanayagar vahuppu.
		Soorkkudi Kovil Nagarathar are said to have found nine Idols made of Ahimbon that was buried deep, at the site of the present Temple, before it was built and first known Kumbabishegam held in 1898.

	The Hindu : Entertainment Chennai / Heritage : Fine sample of Nagarathar architecture
		The place is named after Umayal Achi, the mother of Muthaiah Chettiar, who built the temple in his native place, the small village of Ramachandrapuram, near Thirumeyyam, about 18 kilometres from Pudukottai.
		Their house in Ramachandrapuram, which is part of Kadiyapatti, is a fine example of Nagarathar architecture.
		Though small in size compared to many Chettinadu houses, it is unique for its beautiful paintings on the ceiling of the large living room, which remain with their original glow even after nearly 80 years.

		MADURAI: The golden jubilee celebrations of Nagarathar Sangam will be held at Raja Muthiah Mandram on May 27 and 28.
