Nailsea is a town in North Somerset, England, about 13 km to the South West of Bristol and about 23 km to the North East of the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare.
Nailsea is a commuter town with an approximate population of 18,000
Nailsea currently has two petrol stations, there used to be more, but some have closed leaving an ESSO (formerly Shell) on the B3130 towards Wraxall and a Tesco filling station next to the Scotch Horn Centre.

It was known as crown glass, and had a pale greenish tinge to it and a bull's eye in the middle.
By early Victorian times Nailsea was the fourth largest producer of glass in the country, exporting to Ireland, West Indies and the Americas.
Nailsea needs a museum to display and interpret its lost industrial heritage but until then small collections of Nailsea glass can be seen at both Weston-super-Mare and Bristol museums as well as at Clevedon Court, which is open during the summer months.

A number of glass cones were built by John Lucas and his contemporaries in Nailsea and while none survive, there are a several photographs of the glasshouses when they still stood at the top of the 'village' High Street.
Nailsea Glass became widely used and by the 1830's the glassworks had expanded to become one of the four largest in the country.
As a reminder of Nailsea's "industrial" history, a public house in the Crown Glass Shopping Centre, where Henson Burdge and Evans offices are located, is called The Glasshouse and coincidentally the shopping centre manager is a Mr J Lucas.
