Gyubadoji Zo It is said that this figure represents Kazan Ho'o, an Emperor and high-ranking1 Buddhist monk.

The mountain path that connects Tanabe city to Kamitonda, Oto and Nakahechi was called the Nakahechi trail.

The Kumano Kodo is one of three ancient thoroughfares named Cultural Properties of Japan, the other two being the Okunohoso-michi and Nakasen-do.
