Nakashima District was dissolved as a result of this merger.
On 1 April 1, 2005, the towns of Fujioka and Obara from Nishikamo District and the towns of Asuke, Shimoyama, Asahi and Inabu from Higashikamo District merged into the city of Toyota.
On March 20, 2006, the towns of Shikatsu and Nishiharu from Nishikasugai District merged to form the new city of Kitanagoya.

The Humanities Council is a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a 27-member board.
Our Council, one of 56 representing American states, territories, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is an active member of the Federation of State Humanities Councils.
The Council was formed in 1974 as the Committee on the Humanities and Public Policy (CHAPP), with a mission to encourage the use of the humanities by out-of-school adults in considering issues of public policy.
