By Naked Empire, he has almost completely stepped outside of mere fantasy writing in favor of being philosophically didactic (to no small outcry from the Sword-and-Sorcery sycophants, who feel he is being more pedantic).

 Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind
The words “Naked Empire” may conjure up sensual visions to a virgin Terry Goodkind reader, but those who have delved into his Sword of Truth series know that the titles usually have a much deeper, more philosophical meaning.
I recommend starting with Wizard’s First Rule (the first book in the series), but even if eight thick volumes of wizardry and magic are not your cup of tea, you can read Naked Empire as a standalone novel, and get a condensed version of the basic philosophy that runs throughout the series.
Naked Empire is available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

Naked Empire, the eighth installment of the Sword of Truth, hits bookstore shelves in July 2003, and tackles (among other things) the topic of appeasement - something at the core of world debate in the current War on Terrorism.
Naked Empire is a book that revolves around this kind of issue.
There's an empire of these people who don't believe in the nature of reality, so they don't believe they can tell right from wrong, so they don't want to do anything to fight back against the evil that is among them.

Naked Empire takes the ideas and characters introduced in Pillars and brings them to a nice close, and manages to tell a riveting, impressively self-contained novel.
I won't reveal the plot, which involves the mysterious "Bandakar Empire," but suffice to say that it is suitably entertaining and actually advances the series central plot (although not as much as I'd like).
For longtime fans of the series, Naked Empire is a real treat because it not only focuses on Richard and Kahlan, but Goodkind also resists the temptation to split them up again.

Ultimate AV: Empire of the Sun on DVD
In fact, it is so almost-great that it generated in me a degree of unease when, 14 years after its theatrical release, I watched it on DVD and tried to figure out if it was the king of WWII classics or just another bloated naked emperor.
Empire of the Sun was Spielberg's first shot at universal artistic acceptance, relevance, and, most notably, an Academy Award, but he seemed unable to decide whether he was David Lean or the same dude who produced The Goonies; the end result is a film annoyingly balanced between truly great and truly insipid cinematic moments.
Based on J. Ballard's quasi-autobiography, Empire of the Sun follows a privileged, young British boy named Jim (Christian Bale), separated from his parents during Japan's 1941 invasion of Shanghai, as he attempts to survive imprisonment in a Soo Chow internment camp.

Naked Empire is an utterly butchered novel for those of us who have come to appreciate the intimacy of the storyline and wonderful character development that novels one through six harboured.

Overall, "Naked Empire" was a good comeback from the disappointing "Pillars of Creation", which was more of an introduction of new characters rather than a sequel to "Faith of the Fallen".

However, his statement in the interview confirms what many readers have been saying over the past few volumes: his books are increasingly becoming vehicles for Goodkind's philosophy, and Naked Empire shows that trend increasing exponentially.
While the events put forth as the book's main conflict could be intriguing, as the story develop, they seem much more like a setting explicitly constructed to make a tired moral point than one crafted to advance his story.
It pains me to review Naked Empire, the 8th book in the Sword of Truth series, since I am an avid fan both of Goodkind and the adorable central characters he created in Wizard's First Rule, Richard and Kahlan.

By this book, Naked Empire, the 8th in a derailed trainwreck of a series, the story has become pedantic and pointless.
It left when Goodkind began introducing pointless subplots around the 5th installment of the series, that didn't greatly affect either the characters we had grown to care about or the developing conflict between Richard and Jagang.
