In the south west of the peninsula, Namaqua Doves are a bird of dry acacia scrubland, frequenting cultivations and the vicinity of villages, especially animal pens.
Namaqua Doves are mainly granivorous but their diet, which is not well known, can include insects (Snow and Perrins, 1998).
Wherever the population becomes established, it appears to be resident but at least in the initial stages of colonisation of new areas occurrence is erratic and it is largely absent in the winter months.

This species of the dove family has an exceptionally long tail which is almost solid fl.
They prefer to feed directly off the ground and like most seed-eating doves will throw most of the seed out of a dish or hopper, then proceed to forage for it from the dirt.
This habit encourages rodents to free-feed and their droppings mingled with the seed on the ground are a significant source of parasitic infestation in doves.

 BirdForum - Namaqua Dove?
Despite the dark lores it's not a Namaqua Dove, which is longer tailed and has different markings on the wing etc. In many ways it resembles a female Laughing Dove, although the dark lores are wrong for that species.
Female Namque Dove has a plain brownish upper parts, this bird is clearly showing a bluish-brownish colors, which indicates a Laughing Dove.
In a hybrid with Laughing dove (if that is possible at all); I would expect that there are also some more clear Laughing dove characters;and I would expect the bill to be less colourfull, probably fl.

Good Rock Dove features include a neat white rump, two broad clear fl wing-bars and a head which is clearly darker than the rest of the body.
Estimates are hard since the distinction between the Rock Dove and the far more abundant Feral Pigeon is scientifically difficult in all but a few populations.
It is likely that the British and Irish population exceeds 100 000 pairs of pure Rock Doves but these have decreased due to inbreeding with Feral Pigeons.
