Namco was founded in Tokyo in 1955, by Masaya Nakamura under the name Nakamura Manufacturing Ltd. It began by producing mechanical rocking-horses and similar children's rides, which were installed in a number of department stores in Yokohama and Nihonbashi.
Namco Enterprises Asia Ltd. was established in Hong Kong, soon followed by Namco America, Inc. in California.
Namco is represented by the number "765" and this number or a variation like "7650" appears in several of their games.

The Namco X Capcom (read as Namco cross Capcom according to the katakana) was a surprise announcement from Monolith Soft.
On the Namco side you can play as characters from the Tales series, the furry Klona, and even Druaga from the lesser known dungeon crawling series.
The Namco roster has a lot more of their "popular" or better put well known characters, with the exception of Pac-Man. Namco's line up is top notch, but Capcom's line up may disappoint some fans out there.
