The median income for a household in the county is $28,375, and the median income for a family is $34,159.

County lies near the center of the State from the north to south, in the fifth tier of counties west of the Missouri River.
   It is bounded on the north by Boone and Platte Counties, on the east by Platte and Merrick, on the west by Howard and Greeley, and on the south by Merrick.
In so new a country as Nance County, but little could be expected in the way of improvements, and yet, in the Assessor's reports for 1881, 4,913 acres are returned as improved.

Governor Nance designated Fullerton as the temporary county seat, at which time it consisted of a row of stakes, marking what were destined to become streets.
In July, 1880, as has been stated, the county received sixty acres adjoining the town from Randall Fuller, which has also been platted, and is known as the County Addition.
In 1866, he was employed as a commercial traveler for a wholesale grocery house of New York City; continued in their employ till 1879, when he came to Fullerton; was elected County Treasurer by a majority of one; he was again elected in the fall of 1881, by a majority of thirty-four.

 Fullerton, Nebraska - History
Nance County could not be settled by the provisions of the Homestead Act because it was an Indian reservation; however, sod houses popped up all around in neighboring territory.
Fuller craftily proposed the new county be named Nance, after the then governor of the state, and that Fullerton be the county seat.
It is not known if Governor Nance was swayed by the flattering application, but the results of a disputed election along with the governor's intervention allowed Fullerton to earn the honor.

Jeremiah (Jerry) Milton Nance, rancher, son of Ezekiel Edward and Luany Weightsell (Pate) Nance, was born on April 6, 1850, in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
On April 15, 1877, Jerry Nance, with ten cowboys, forty ponies, and a chuckwagon, left Hays County and headed north with 2,300 head of cattle.
Nance died on September 16, 1926, and was buried in the Kyle Cemetery.

 Mormon Influence on Scandinavian Settlement
The predominance of Norwegians in the small Scandinavian population of the territory of Utah in 1850 was due to the efforts of Mormon elder George Parker Dykes, who began proselytizing in the Fox River Settlement in La Salle County, Illinois in 1842.
The group got lost, ran out of food and water, and the Sinamark oral history states, "a child was born on the way." It was painful to retrace their steps: the Sinamarks left one or two children beneath Utah's earth while Watt left his wife buried there.
The information on the abandoned farms in Seiver County, Utah was noted in the manuscript of the Ninth Census of the U.S., 1870.
