		The owner is CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Shell Nanhai BV (a member of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies), with a 50 percent stake, and CNOOC Petrochemicals Investment Ltd. (CPIL), also with a 50 percent stake.
		We're on a fairly compressed schedule, with the Nanhai project scheduled to be ready for start-up by end of 2005, in a country where nothing like this has been done before - with a team that has never worked together before.
		Once we began talking to the Nanhai complex operations and maintenance people, we realized the requirements were actually much smaller than previously defined.

		Nanhai Development did not disclose how much the Gates charity paid for the shares, but domestic media reported the foundation had bought Nanhai Development shares at about eight yuan per share.
		Nanhai Development’s A shares jumped 3.43 percent to close at 7.83 yuan Friday, when the firm announced the Gates foundation purchase.
		The Nanhai Development purchase is the first time the Gates foundation has invested in China’s A-share markets after it obtained approval from China’s market regulators in September last year to invest US$100 million in the country’s main stock and debt markets under a qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII) program.

		Instead, many pieces from the Royal Nanhai have circular scars on the base from tubular stacking supports; fewer Nanyang plates have these, and when they exist they are of larger diameter than the later examples - a size reflecting the earlier practice of stacking in piles.
		The foot-ring of the celadon plates on the Nanyang is tapered inwards and is shorter than on later ware; it resembles the foot-ring of the earlier underglaze fl decorated plates found on the Turiang.
		The Royal Nanhai is therefore about the same age as the Pandanan wreck, found in the Philippines in 1993.

		I recently had the opportunity of assisting the Nanhai Marine Archaeology Sdn Bhd on one of their many projects.
		The salvage work on the Wanli is being done with the cooperation and approval of the Malaysian Department of Museums and Antiquities and the Ministry of Culture with the agreement that 70% of the salvaged cargo goes to Nanhai Marine Archaeology.
		Aside from their ten historical shipwreck discoveries off the coast of Malaysia, the managing director, world renowned maritime explorer and author Sten Sjostrand and his crew have also discovered another 120 steel shipwrecks that are less than 100 years old over the past 32 years.

		I am assuming that they are talking Nanhai in Guangdong province since it is larger than Nanhai, Hebei, but I'm not sure, because when they refer to Nanhai, they refer to it as a smaller city so it could be Nanhai, Hebei.
		This really is a fascinating study that sheds a lot of light on the differences between different areas of China and how technology is affecting them.
